When Jenkins Custom Homes set out to design a parade home in Rough Hollow - a waterfront community on Lake Travis in Lakeway, TX - they wanted it to evoke the nostalgia of childhood trips to your grandparent’s home along with current design. The result is a beautiful modern farmhouse that is perfect for the family who loves spending time outdoors.
We're not the only ones who took notice of this impressive home. Aptly named "The Vineyard Farmhouse", it won the People’s Choice Award at the 2017 Greater Austin Parade of Homes — quite a feat considering it was the smallest in size. Once you step inside, you’ll see that it packs in plenty of beautiful features and design. The result is a one-of-a-kind oasis of activity just 25 minutes outside of Austin.
When you first pull up to this Rough Hollow home you’ll immediately notice the juxtaposition of rustic style with more contemporary features. Light native stone plays with the rich hues of wood accents to give it old school charm with a contemporary appeal.
The entire house was designed with the outdoors in mind, and there is no shortage of activities. The courtyard offers bocce ball, a fire pit and built-in seating. The large windows leading outside blur the lines between interior and exterior, giving the perfect breezeway during the mild weather months.
Once you make your way out back, you’ll see how the contemporary style of the pool serves as an open invitation to make a splash. The rectangular design accentuated with beautiful tile and a waterfall give the outside of the home a polished look.
Under the covering of the patio, you'll find our stained pine on the ceiling which gives an element of warmth. Modern appliances and a full-service grill space make it the perfect spot to enjoy a quick reprieve from the Texas sun.
Accents like cedar siding are unexpected but add to the level of interest and rustic charm. Throughout the home, windows are never in short supply which allow natural light to pour inside.
Once you're indoors you’ll notice that the native stone continues from the exterior to interior — creating a strong sense of continuity. The 100-year old hardwood floors add to the farmhouse look as modern appliances and chic light fixtures create a level of refinement. High vaulted ceilings and large stackable glass windows give the main kitchen area and living room a spacious feel.
