Out in the Hill Country near Lakeway, TX this modern home boasts a view that will take your breathe away. Equally breathtaking is the modern and creative uses of traditional lumber products found throughout the home, which was designed and built by Glenn George of Texas Custom Construction.
From the moment you pull up to the Hill Country home, the sharp lines and mixture of natural materials pull you in. The attention to detail used on the Ipe siding around the windows is virtually seamless, making the transition from wood to stone look beautifully natural. The large see-through entryway gives you a glimpse of the beauty behind the house as well.
MILLION DOLLAR VIEW
As you walk around to the backyard, it's easy to see what makes this modern home so desirable. A huge outdoor space lets guests and the homeowners alike take in the million dollar views of the Texas Hill Country. Wrapped in Ipe siding, the hardwood columns mirror the window accents on the front of the house.
AN OUTDOOR OASIS
The outdoor space wouldn't be complete without a pristine pool surrounded by natural stone. A small waterfall cascades from the wading area into the pool below. Artificial turf is installed beside the pool to eliminate the need to mow on the lower level.
Bringing the natural materials of the outdoors in, Texas Custom Construction used a new wood product called Windswept to build interior track doors into the butlers pantry as well as by the wine rack under the staircase. The product is designed to look like reclaimed barn wood at a fraction of the cost. You can find out more about the product on our Sidings & Soffits page.
SHOWERS INSIDE & OUT
One of the most unique highlights of this Hill Country home is the indoor/outdoor shower in the master bathroom. Ipe flooring extends from the indoor walk-in shower through a door to an enclosed outdoor shower with a view of the hill country. The limestone walls extend high enough to give the homeowners peace of mind when showering outside.
STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN
Winner of Best Staircase in the parade of homes, Glenn George created a modern staircase using treated glulam beams, which are typically used for framing. By staining the beams, the staircase blends nicely with the hardwood floors while making a bold statement as you enter the home. The beams also work perfectly for the stair treads.
