Why did this homeowner choose a bamboo deck?

It's easy for a product specialist to explain the advantages of his/her decking product, but what makes the homeowner choose between all of the decking options available?

We met Josh on his recently completed DassoXTR Fused Bamboo deck to see why he chose DassoXTR for his project.

When Josh and his wife decided it was time to renovate the deck surrounding their Atlanta home they looked at everything from composite decking to Brazilian hardwoods as a possible product for the build. Eventually, they found DassoXTR which turned out to be the perfect material for their project.

"We wanted our decking to be diagonal to the joists and we were having a hard time finding a product that was rated for that." With DassoXTR they found one that is not only sturdy but that also looks great. "It's great to know there are options out there when somebody wants something that's going to have more of a creative look than the typical linear decking."

Once installation began Josh found that there was a bit of a learning curve using DassoXTR's six-foot boards, but in the end, there was a lot less waste than decks that had built in the past.

The new deck had been installed for about two months when we visited Josh at his home and there was minimal weathering to the boards. "We actually had a spare piece that we set out in the sun to weather for about 4 months and then compared it to Ipe and some composite boards. We were pleased with the way it looked and after we applied oil it looked like a brand new product."

Josh and his wife also found DassoXTR to be a cost-effective option, especially when looking at not having to replace any boards in the long run as well as its 30-year warranty.
