Fiberon Concordia™ Cladding – Installation Guide (PDF)

Back to All Resources

The Fiberon Concordia Cladding Installation Guide (PDF) provides complete instructions for installing Concordia™ boards in exterior cladding, façade, soffit, and screen-wall applications. The guide details proper rainscreen assemblies, furring layouts, fastener requirements, board gapping, and step-by-step installation for horizontal, diagonal, and vertical orientations.

The document begins with general guidelines and pre-construction considerations. Concordia boards feature wood-grain embossing with natural color variation, and installers are encouraged to pre-lay boards in the shade for at least 30 minutes to acclimate to temperature. Because Concordia expands and contracts with temperature changes, the guide emphasizes proper side-to-side and end-to-end gapping, particularly around windows, doors, terminations, and trim intersections.

Rainscreen design is essential for Fiberon cladding. Installers must create a ventilated drainage plane between 3/8″ and 3/4″, supported by exterior-grade furring materials that remain stable in long-term UV exposure. The guide also highlights the importance of a fully flashed, high-quality WRB as the primary water-management layer.

Horizontal installation instructions walk through setting level chalk lines, placing furring, fastening each board with two composite screws per furring strip, maintaining 3/16″ side gapping, and avoiding seams directly above window or door openings. Vertical installations use horizontal furring and include similar spacing and fastening rules, including pre-drilling at board ends and around openings. Diagonal installations require vertical furring spaced no more than 12″ on center.

Z-flashing details show how to transition between wall sections or create decorative breaks. The addendum also covers screen façade applications, where Concordia is installed over a non-structural support plane, and soffit installations where the boards serve as a decorative underside finish.

The guide provides extensive charts for fastener sizes, minimum edge distances, drainage-plane spacing, and temperature-based gapping to ensure long-term performance.
