EDGELoc fasteners are designed exclusively for TimberTech EDGE grooved boards and should not be used on stairs or with scalloped-bottom profiles. The guide begins with a full list of required tools, including an 18V variable-speed drill, T15 bit, safety glasses, and scrap board material for tapping boards into final position. Installers are reminded to always check the factory ends of boards and recut if necessary to ensure square, clean joints.
The installation process starts by fastening the first board using TOPLoc® or Cortex® (for square-shouldered boards) before introducing EDGELoc clips. Once the first board is secured, clips are fully inserted into the groove of the next board with the screw hole aligned at the center of the joist. The guide includes best-practice tips such as leaving clips slightly loose before tightening, avoiding overdriving, and applying downward pressure on the board while driving screws.
Instructions for installing subsequent boards highlight raising the outer edge of the deck board and sliding it into the installed clips. A scrap piece of lumber may be used to gently tap boards into place. Installers will also find guidance for butt-joint installations, where joists must be doubled and left/right clips are offset 1/8″ to accommodate clip legs on each side of the joint.
