TimberTech Fulton Rail – Installation Guide (2025 PDF)

Back to All Resources

The TimberTech Fulton Rail Installation Guide (2025 PDF) provides complete instructions for installing TimberTech’s powder-coated steel railing system, including posts, level panels, stair panels, gate kits, drink rail brackets, and foot blocks. This guide walks installers through cutting metal panels, fastening brackets, aligning balusters, and handling finishing steps to protect exposed steel.

The manual begins with safety requirements and a full list of tools, including a portable band saw with a 24-TPI blade, non-ferrous saw blades, a T20/T30 Torx bit set, and touch-up paint for all cut steel surfaces. Installers are reminded to confirm local code requirements for railing height, blocking, post anchoring hardware, and guardrail spacing.

Post installation includes detailed diagrams showing how to block under each post using double 2x6s, drill through deck boards, create optional wiring holes for post lighting, and secure posts with 3/8″ bolts (sold separately). Instructions cover end posts, center posts, inline posts, and 90° corner posts, with exact placement shown for 6′ and 8′ spans.

Level panel installation includes determining cut length by centering baluster spacing, measuring both ends, and cutting ¾” shorter than the opening. Each cut end must be painted prior to final installation. The guide explains how to pre-drill bracket locations using a 5/32″ bit, drop the panel onto the brackets, and secure with (8) #10 x ½” self-tapping screws before snapping on the bracket covers.

Stair panel installation covers stair panels that articulate between 30°–45°, determining equal baluster-to-post spacing, bracing panels with protective cardboard, marking reference cut lines, and cutting rails exactly 1″ beyond the reference line to account for bracket seating depth. Each cut is painted to prevent rust.

Additional sections include installing the Fulton gate kit—with welded post rods, hinge placement, latch installation, and required clearances—as well as instructions for adding a drink rail using supplied brackets, pre-drilling the top rail, and protecting the steel finish. The guide concludes with foot block installation and code notes for 8′ spans.
