Best of Decking & Railing at the 2019 Builders Show

The 2019 International Builders Show drew the largest crowd and most exhibitors in a decade. Although I couldn't stop by every one of the 1500 booths, here are some of my favorite products in the Siding, Soffit and Cladding category.

An industry leader in thermally modified lumber, Thermory had an eye-catching booth showcasing their new Drift line. Part of the Rebel Series, Drift offers the look of reclaimed bard wood with the stability of a thermally modified product. Drift comes in several colors and species, so be sure to check them out.

Fiberon is a composite decking company that recently came out with a cladding product. Fiberon cladding comes in a square edge 14' board in the same colors as their decking. This is an excellent way to achieve the wood look without the worry of staining and fading. I also was able to go in a top secret room to see the next version of their cladding line and I think it's going to be a game changer.

We have used Woodtone's RealSoffit product for a while now, but I was excited to see they have a white shiplap product now. Shiplap by Woodtone is a pre-primed clear pine with a fine line profile so now anyone can achieve the Joanna Gaines look they've been searching for.

Olde Wood

Olde Wood was a product I haven't seen before, and they sell antique barn siding that's perfect for walls and ceilings. They also have a peel and stick product that is made of authentic reclaimed barnwood as well called Barnwood2Go.

Timura is another thermally modified product out of Germany that harvests from Germany's sustainable forests rather than importing lumber from the USA or other countries. I saw Timura at the International Woodworking Fair in Atlanta last year too and I loved the different color shades available and the 20-year shade warranty.

I've seen the TandoStone before, which is composite material with a stone look. But, what I was interested in at their booth this year was the Tando Shake and Beach House Shake. These composite shake panels look so real in person it's hard to tell the difference and it was almost impossible to find the seams in these panels. Great work Tando!

Synergy is a favorite of mine, I'm a big fan of their rustic collection. I noticed they have a Barn Door option now and new color collection called Rustic Seaside that is the perfect blend of coastal charm and a weathered shiplap style.

Royal Building Products

Last stop was the Royal Building Products booth. I'm familiar the Zuri PVC Decking line, but it was interesting to see some of the new siding lines they have now, like the Cedar Renditions product line. Cedar Renditions is an aluminum siding that is indistinguishable from real wood when you see it on a project. This is another product that perfectly mimics the wood look without the maintenance of a real wood product.
