Lending A Helping Hand To Foster Families This Christmas

For the second year, TimberTown was honored to partner with Helping Hand Home for Children for their annual Foster and Adoption Holiday Party.

Since 1893, Helping Hand Home for Children has provided a place to heal for abused, neglected and abandoned children in the Austin Metro area. HHH takes children whose lives have been filled with pain, fear, and chaos and provide a nurturing home while restoring each child to a healthy family setting. The Holiday Party is for children currently in foster care or children who have been adopted through Helping Hand Home.

TimberTown owners Steve and Melanie Anthony (pictured on the outside) presented Director of Foster and Adoption Services Kristi Duck (pictured in the center) with a toy for each child attending the Holiday Party. TimberTown was given a list prior to the event, so every present could be hand picked based on what each child asked for this Christmas. “My favorite part is trying to find the perfect gift for each child,” said Melanie. With three young daughters themselves, the Anthony’s are excited to partner with an organization that does so much for abused and neglected children.

The HHH Holiday party took place Monday, December 16th at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Austin. The children received their personalized present and had their photo taken with Santa himself; there was also an area to have a family photo taken. The children’s ages ranged from 1 month to 18 years old, and each received a gift based on their age and what they, or their foster parents, asked for.

The HHH Holiday Party is also a great way for foster families to meet and share experiences. Helping Hand Home will also invite parents considering foster care or adoption so they can meet current foster and adoptive parents. At the end of the dinner, once every child has their gift from Santa, all the kids open their gifts with enthusiasm and excitement. “I love watching the children’s faces as they open their presents,” mentioned Steve Anthony, who attended the party with his wife and three daughters. About Helping Hand Home Steve said, “(HHH) is an incredible organization and I hope we can continue to participate in (the Holiday Party) for a long time.”

TimberTown also participates in an Academic Enrichment Summer Camp each year with Helping Hand Home.
