ACRE Care & Maintenance Guide (2025 PDF)

The ACRE Care & Maintenance Guide (2025 PDF) provides essential best practices for storing, handling, preparing, and maintaining ACRE® products from Modern Mill. This guide supports installers, builders, and homeowners with instructions that help protect the material’s appearance, coating performance, and long-term durability.

ACRE contains natural fibers and PVC polymers, so proper storage and acclimation are critical. The guide emphasizes keeping all ACRE products covered, stored flat and fully supported, and protected from moisture and direct sunlight. Pallets should never sit directly on the ground, and any wet material must be completely dry before installation or finishing.

Before installation, all ACRE boards should be inspected for damage, saturation, or surface issues. Installing defective or wet boards voids warranty coverage. Proper acclimation to site temperature—at least two hours—is required to ensure correct spacing during installation.

Cutting guidelines recommend using common woodworking tools with fine-tooth blades, wearing PPE, and avoiding direct sun exposure during processing. The guide also notes that finishing ACRE after installation is possible, but applying coatings on a flat surface provides the best visual consistency. Only water-based paints, stains, or clear coats should be used, and any color with an LRV below 55 requires approval from Modern Mill.

Routine care includes rinsing ACRE surfaces every 6–12 months and using only mild soap, water, or gentle, non-abrasive cleaners. Composite deck cleaners are not recommended. Power washing should be limited to under 2500 PSI with a fan or oscillating tip held at least 12″ from the surface. Homeowners should also keep vegetation trimmed away from ACRE surfaces to prevent staining or moisture retention.
