ExoClad QuickClip for Accoya – Installation Guide (2024 PDF)

Back to All Resources

The ExoClad QuickClip Installation Guide for Accoya (2024 PDF) provides complete instructions for installing Accoya® siding using the ExoClad QuickClip™ rainscreen system. This guide outlines clip spacing, fastener recommendations, airflow requirements, butt-joint treatment, starter clip options, and installation details for a long-lasting, fully ventilated rainscreen assembly.

ExoClad QuickClip is a flexible, resilient nylon clip engineered to accommodate the natural expansion and contraction of real wood siding. When paired with Accoya, the clip creates a consistent ¾” rainscreen gap behind every board, promoting airflow and drainage while maintaining a clean, concealed-fastener look. The clip design allows boards to move freely with humidity changes, preventing buckling, cupping, and trapped-moisture issues found in surface-fastened systems.

Installation begins with preparing a true, flat wall and fastening clips directly to structural sheathing or framing through a WRB. QuickClips may be cut in half to serve as starter clips at the base row. The guide specifies attaching each clip using a #9 or #10 × 2½” exterior-grade screw, placed perpendicular to the wall to ensure proper seating and structural performance.

The manual includes dimensions for each clip type and diagrams showing clip positioning along the board edge. The ¾” cavity created by the clip must remain open at the top and bottom of the siding system; ventilation strips such as Cor-A-Vent are recommended at both terminations to prevent insect intrusion while maintaining airflow.

Butt-joint conditions allow standard S4S corner boards or rabbeted corner boards to cover end-grain transitions. The guide also includes exploded diagrams of board/clip/sheathing alignment and clear measurements for cavity depth, fastening offsets, and minimum structural support behind every clip.
